Politics Updates

These provide teachers with up-to-date data relating to particular parts of the specification. Updates –

• are divided into units corresponding to the topics in the specification
• are Activity-based, with Activities using the most up-to-date material available
• contain charts and diagrams with the latest figures
• include answers to all questions asked in the Activities
• provide a month-by-month summary of key political events.

Exam Practice Resources

• use new papers as mock exams
• 'cherry pick' questions to give out for homework
• give students new papers in the weeks before an exam so that they can practise their timing, knowledge and skills (students could do the exams under exam conditions and then, using Sample Answers and Examiner's advice, find out where they need to improve)
• use Sample Answers/Examiner's Advice to help students revise
• give out Sample Answers for inclusion in students' notes
• Use Sample Answers as the basis for class discussion.

Student Activity Resources

These provide:

• exercises for use throughout the course
• 'last minute' revision sheets – all the key information students will need on a topic, on two A4 sheets.

Teachers might:

• use activities in class
• print out activities and set them as homework
• 'cherry pick' pieces of data to use in a lesson
• use questions to practice skills for the exam.

Classroom & Homework Resources

These provide:

• tests which teachers can use when they finish teaching a topic
• homework exercises for use during the teaching of a topic.

The end-of-topic tests have a variety of question types (multiple choice, short answer and longer questions). Each time they finish teaching a topic, teachers have the choice of giving students a quick test to recap on recent work or a more formal exam-style practice session.

The homework exercises provide students with two tasks – one to be completed when a student is part-way through a topic, the other when the student nears the end of a topic. The assumption is that teachers are unlikely to set more than two pieces of homework on a single topic.
